'Traveler' looking for a home on ABC

Donald Richardson and Edouard Piche are just two of a dozen readers who called and e-mailed me about ABC's "Traveler" coming to an abrupt and unsatisfactory end.
The serial drama, which followed two men on a quest to find the friend who framed them for terrorism, ended its summer run with a cliffhanger that left many a follower without closure and wondering what's next.
"Why do these networks always do this?" asked Richardson of Detroit. "They air a show like 'Vanished' (Fox) or 'Kidnapped' (NBC) and then they don't wrap up the story."
This time the blame falls more on director David Nutter's doorstep than that of ABC. Yes, ABC started it by cancelling the show. But Nutter, in an attempt to get the Alphabet network executives to change their minds a la "Jericho," is the one who decided to make the "Traveler" series finale (available on abc.com ) one that begged for more explanation and a second run.
Here's hoping Nutter's plan works. Perhaps "Traveler" fans will send pounds of compasses or maps instead of peanuts.
